1. EDITORIAL POLICY — The publisher (St Cuthbert Press Ltd) and the editor of the integrating resource follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Upon submitting a manuscript to the Babylon Textbook of Medicine, all authors must be in complete agreement regarding its content and must ensure that the manuscript conforms to all applicable aspects of the editorial policy outlined in this webpage.

1.1. Declarations — Upon submission of a manuscript to the integrating resource, the corresponding author is required to declare: (i) that the manuscript has been prepared based on the integrating resource’s guidelines, that the authors’ details are accurate, and that all data and claims presented in the manuscript are – to the best of his / her knowledge and belief – accurate and truthful, (ii) that he / she has secured the consent of all of his / her co-authors in acting as a corresponding author, as well as their approval for submitting the manuscript, in its current form, to the Babylon Textbook of Medicine, (iii) that he / she understands that the unacknowledged use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process of the manuscript is against the integrating resource’s policy, and could lead to its rejection or the retraction of its published version, (iv) that the manuscript has not been published – in part or in full – before, nor is submitted for publication elsewhere, and (v) that the manuscript will not be submitted for publication elsewhere until the editorial process is complete.

1.2. Acknowledgements — This is a mandatory section for all chapters. In this section, authors should provide a clearly-written description or expression of gratitude for any help and / or funding received from individuals and / or institutions.

1.3. Conflict of Interest Statement — This is a mandatory section for all chapters. All possible conflicts of interest should be declared by all authors in this section. Failure to do so could result in the rejection of the manuscript or the retraction of the published chapter in question. If no conflicts of interest exist, the authors are required to write “None to declare.” in this section.

1.4. Misconduct — Data falsification, plagiarism, or unjustified changes in authorship; all constitute misconduct. When misconduct by authors is suspected, the publisher takes action and launches a preliminary investigation based on the guidance dictated by COPE. If the involved parties fail to respond to the publisher in a satisfactory manner, then an appropriate authority is asked to further investigate the misconduct. In cases where a misconduct is proven beyond all reasonable doubt, the published chapter is retracted. Otherwise, the publisher undertakes reasonable attempts to obtain a resolution and to correct the record, or archives the misconduct investigation.

1.5. Appeals and Complaints — Appeals and complaints regarding the decisions of the editor can be addressed to the publisher via email and should be justified. The publisher will examine such appeals and complaints confidentially, but might seek the opinion of a number of external experts regarding any wrongdoing or omission identified in the decisions in question before allowing for a re-assessment of the involved manuscripts.

2. OPEN-ACCESS AND COPYRIGHT POLICY — All integrating resource chapters (appearing in volume pages numbered using Arabic numerals) are published as open-access chapters and are distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license, thereby permitting their non-commercial use, sharing, and adaptation, provided the original work is properly cited. The copyright of each of the integrating resource’s chapters is retained by the respective author(s) under the terms and conditions of the CC BY-NC 4.0 license. Unless otherwise stated, the copyright of all other elements of the integrating resource found online and in print (including but not limited to the integrating resource’s name, the covers of the printed volumes, and the paratextual content of the printed volume pages numbered using Roman numerals) is retained by the publisher. The latter also holds the non-exclusive right to publish and distribute the content of this integrating resource in both digital and printed formats. Printed editions of the integrating resource are issued as hardbound volumes every six years and may be sold commercially; this commercial use is authorised by the chapter authors through contributor agreements and does not affect the open-access status of the online editions.

PRIVACY POLICY — The publisher is the exclusive administrator of this website and is responsible for the processing of the personal data that are submitted via email, in accordance with the applicable UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). REVENUE SOURCE, ADVERTISING, AND DIRECT MARKETING POLICY — The publisher’s revenue sources related to the publication of this integrating resource are the fees charged for the sale and shipment of printed volumes of the title to individuals and institutions. The publisher does not receive any institutional or organisational funding or support. The publisher does not receive any revenue from any sort of advertisement, whether online or in print. All direct marketing activities related to this integrating resource are conducted by the publisher in the most appropriate, well-targeted, and unobstructed manner, with an accurate representation of the integrating resource’s indexing, metrics, and scope.

5. OTHER POLICIES — The integrating resource does not consider unsolicited manuscripts for publication.
